Classroom Procedures
Tardiness Policy:
·The bell marks the beginning of the period. Anyone not completely in the classroom when the bell rings will be assessed a tardy. If you do not immediately take your seat when asked to do so, you will receive a tardy. Tardy punishments are assessed according to the student handbook.
Notes:
· You are expected to take notes during every lecture.
· Your notes must be complete and organized in a three-ring binder or notebook.
Homework:
· You are expected to complete your homework assignments daily.
· Homework can be completed either on loose leaf paper and kept in your binder or in a separate notebook.
· Homework will be checked daily in order for me to check your progress and the extent of completion on your assignments.
· Completion grades will be worth up to 5 points. Random checks for correct answers will be worth between 5 and 25 points.
· Homework completion and accuracy may also be checked with homework quizzes.
· Late homework will be accepted up until one week from the due date. It is your responsibility to turn in your late homework.
Quizzes and Tests:
· There will be at least 1 announced quiz and 1 major test per chapter.
· If you are absent for a test or quiz you will take the test or quiz the day you return to school.
· Quizzes and tests must be done in pencil only! Failure to do so will result in a loss of points.
Make-up Work:
· It is your responsibility to find out what assignments you missed due to absence. Worksheets will be located in a designated folder in the classroom and may be requested via email. It is also your responsibility to get the notes that you missed. Being absent does not excuse you from the daily notes/ assignments. If you missed a quiz/test, it is your responsibility to schedule an appropriate time to retake the quiz/test.
· Please talk to me in advance to make arrangements for field trips and vacations while getting your green sheet signed.
· I am more than willing to help you with any make-up material before or after school, or during my prep period. During the day’s lecture, however, is not an appropriate time to ask questions about make-up work.
· Any make-up work that is not turned in by the day of the chapter test will result in a zero being recorded in the gradebook.
Academic Dishonesty:
· It is expected and assumed that all material you turn in will be your work alone. Academic dishonesty includes copying homework, giving or receiving help on a quiz or test, and plagiarizing. If you are caught doing any of these, you will fail that particular assignment or test and may be referred to the Dean’s Office. Cheating is never acceptable.
Inappropriate Behavior:
· The use of inappropriate words, gestures, or actions will not be tolerated. Under no circumstances will I tolerate anyone putting down another classmate for any reason. If you have not done so already, learn to respect your peers and teachers.
Food & Drink:
· No food or drink items are allowed in locker areas or in academic hallways. If students bring food or drinks into school, they are to be consumed in either the snack bar or the cafeteria before going to lockers or reporting to classrooms. Students violating this procedure will be subject to Level II Discipline Policies.
Consequences
If you do not meet these expectations or do not comply with classroom procedures/policies, you will suffer the followingconsequences (unless otherwise stated):
First Offense:
Detention with Teacher – Before School and/or Parental Contact
Second Offense:
Regular Detention Parental Contact
Third Offense:
